What restrictions are there on the design of smoking shelters?
Put simply, the covered area can be enclosed with sides by no more than 50%.
What factors should I consider in selecting bollards?
There are several factors…
- Is the bollard to be permanent or will it need to be removed from time to time to allow access? If it does need to be moved then a telescopic bollard that sinks into the ground is required. These can be either manual or automatic operation. The type of bollard that folds down is not recommended as these are easily damaged if driven over and they can also cause damage to cars.
- Is it for a high security purpose e.g. to protect an ATM from ram-raiders? If so then an extra heavy duty, high impact resistant bollard may be required?
- Does it need to be flexible in the event of impact? If so a bendy rubber bollard may be the best choice.

What happens to all the rainwater that falls on a canopy structure?
Most of our canopy structures have integral gutter systems whereby the beams act as gutters. The rainwater runs off the canopy, down through the legs and out through a drainage hole at the bottom.
If you wish to recycle the water it is easy to attach water butts.
Our highly experienced site surveyors will be able to advise you about the best methods in connecting to existing drains or installing new Aco drains to deal with water from the canopy structure.
